Women in the Middle Ages. by Eunice

When I think of the middle ages I think of kings, knights, dragons, etc. but i never stop to think about the women that lived at that time. We all know how hard it was for some women to have rights, for example in Athens they were much like slaves. Medieval women were almost like the women in Athens. Most of them were peasants at that time and were payed less than men. They had to obey everything their husband said. Along with their father and brothers, in other words any order from a man. If they disobeyed anyone it was taken as a sign of crime against their own religion. Princesses weren’t very lucky either, yes they had money and all the luxuries a peasant girl would want but they didn’t have the choice to decide what to do with their lives. They were able to inherit land or rule the castle whenever their husbands were out but it was only for a short amount of time.It was said that they were their to serve their husband. Some ended up been nuns and writing about what was going on during that time.

Now in days women are free to do whatever they want. The role of women today has become incredibly honorable. We have the right to vote, to study, to work, to decide what we want to do in life, and even become an important person in society.

The view of the book shows that later in the 13th century knights were thought to do anything to make a women thrilled. This was called chivalry, which was a knightly system of the Middle Ages. Their responsibility was to honor and serve women of all kinds. Chivalry was also to help those in need.
